Neuromuscular Dentistry Blog

October 17th, 2005 · 2 Comments

This blog is the only one on Dentalblogs that allows anyone to post a comment.  You will need to register your name and e mail address so we can prevent spamming.  I don’t like to have to log in either, but it is necessary in this case.  I would invite positive coments on neuromuscular dentistry from all of the various "camps" in the discipline.  It would be great if we could comment on difficult patients, instrumentation. treatment modalities, etc..  I will be inviting the key players in this field to participate.

This blog will be dedicated to serious comments on neuromuscular dentistry.  Please refrain from any comment that doesn’t contribute to this cause.  "I agree" and "happy birthday" comments would be better sent to the recipient privately.  Let’s post some great stuff and learn from each other.

    When do you feel an NTI is indicated in treating a NM pain patient?

    My indicators for NTI:

    * Pain of muscular origin.
    * No TMJ pathology that fails stick test
    * EMG resting muscles high
    * multiple silent periods at rest and function
    * poor response to clench on cotton roll challenge
    * Patient just needs a break! then on to NM treatment.
