Last week I did two lectures – one full day at the Holiday Dental Conference with Dr. Peter Dawson and a two-day, hands-on, occlusion course at Traverse City, Michigan. Both involved the functional aspects of dentistry. I am excited about the interest that dentists show in functional esthetics, as well as function in nuts-and-bolts restorative dentistry. The hands-on course involved articulators, like the Sam-3 from Great Lakes and the Denar Combi II System from Water Pik Technologies. It is rewarding to see the interest in function and that the principles we teach are easily understood and applied. The Dawson Center offers and Functional Occlusion 1, an easy and convenient course for any dentist interested in the functional aspects of cosmetic or restorative care.
